4-H Club Program
4-H Community Clubs are found throughout the county and offer the opportunity for hands-on learning for children ages 5 to 19. 4-H Clubs are planned and led by both adult volunteers and youth members. Most Sacramento County 4-H Clubs meet monthly from September through June. The official 4-H year begins July 1 and ends June 30.
4-H Club Meetings
4-H Clubs usually meet once a month in the evening or on a weekend for about an hour. Youth members/officers typically run these meetings using parliamentary procedure. There are many opportunities for all youth attending the meetings to develop confidence and leadership through public speaking and presentations.
Cost
There is a program fee for youth members and adult volunteers to participate in California 4-H programs.
2024-2025
The cost for youth members is $80.00 per year. The cost for adult volunteers is $30.00 per year. After you have connected with your club and enrolled in ZSuite, you can pay your enrollment fee. Contact your 4-H Club for the payment link.
Each 4-H Club may have a small additional fee collected. Projects may also collect a supply fee, which is stated at the beginning of the project. If assistance for the program fee is needed, please contact your 4-H Club Leader or 4-H Staff.
4-H Projects
A 4-H project is:
- Planned work in an area of interest to the 4-H member.
- Guided by a 4-H adult volunteer who is the project leader.
- Aimed at planned objectives that can be attained and measured.
- Summarized by some form of record keeping.
- A minimum of six hours of project instruction.
Projects help 4-H members find and nurture their spark or passion. For additional information on how to help identify your spark and the 4-H project areas, click

4-H members enroll in at least one project each year. New members are encouraged to join only one or two projects, to help gain experience and connect with members and volunteers.
